Summer Fun: Your 2018 Guide To The County Fairs
The season for demolition derbies, carnival rides and all the fried foods has arrived -- quintessential summer vibes, even when you're baking into the pavement.
Last summer, for the first time in years, we hit up the Cass County Fair, which seems so much more compact than I remembered. We zizagged our way across the fairgrounds, riding spinny rides, munching on elephant ears, wandering through the horse barns and checking out the monster trucks on a whim. Those were a huge hit.
The most memorable moment came when we were sitting outside a barn, watching my unsuspecting 9-year-old nephew leisurely walk across a small field as a rogue 4-H cow came running fast right behind him. If you haven't had to mime to someone that an angry bovine is bearing down on them, you are missing out. Aaaah, summer.
