What's On This Weekend: December 15-17

We are in the midst of Hanukkah and Christmas is just around the snow-clobbered corner. This weekend is bursting with holiday festivities, but it's also the perfect time to try snow-shoeing at one of the local nature centers or lace up some ice skates for a trip around the rink if you prefer.

FRIDAY

 

  •  

  • Nab a seat for the heart-warming retelling of Christmas staple Miracle on 34th Street in St Joe by the Twin City Players

  • Don't miss the annual Holland Modular Railroad Club holiday train show at the library in Zeeland (through Dec 16)

  • Drop the kids off for a night of sports, board games, crafts and pizza with the Holland Recreation Division (through Sunday)

  • Stop by Santa's quaint little house in downtown St Joe for visits and keepsake photos

  • Check out the magnificent illumination display in Battle Creek during the Festival of Lights (through Dec 16)

 

SATURDAY 

 

  • Catch a steampunk version of The Nutracker, featuring a live orchestra, at LMC in Benton Harbor

  • Listen to a special reading of The Christmas Tree Ship, plus enjoy hot cocoa, cookies and sledding, at the historic Lightkeepers House in South Haven

  • Book a mini-getaway and get a kid-friendly buffet, hot cocoa, a special showing of The Polar Express and an overnight stay for four at The Inn at Harbor Shores

  • Scarf up a delicious holiday buffet and visit with Jolly Saint Nick at Burdick's for Breakfast in Kalamazoo

  • Dash over to the Herrick District Library's North Branch to meet real reindeer, plus enjoy hot chocolate and a craft

  • See the Fort St. Joseph Museum and Chapin Mansion in Niles all dressed up for the holidays in this year's open house theme, "Through a Child’s Eyes" 

  • Hop on the festively bedecked train for a leisurely ride through Eden Springs Park at House of David in Benton Harbor

  • Whisk the kids away in their pjs for a festive reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, hot cocoa, cookies and a visit from Santa in Three Oaks

 

SUNDAY

 

  • Decorate Decorate cookies and meet Santa at McIntosh Cellars in South Haven

  • Soak up the festive sounds during the Holland Chorale Holiday presentation
