A Nutcracker Every Which Way

What is Christmas without an annual viewing of The Nutcracker? Lucky for us, there are as many whimsical retellings of the classic tale as there are theaters. OK, maybe not quite that many, but you can pretty much find the genre and style to suit your specific tastes or attention spans.

Here are some of our favorite options. Grab your tickets fast before they sell out.

Tea Party: Nutcracker Ballet Tea

November 19, 3 pm | Holland

Lucky attendees will join the dancers of Grand Rapids Ballet School Junior Company for a special story time brunch at Holland Area Arts Council. For kids ages 4-10. Tickets start at $15.


Full Experience: Clara's Nutcracker Party

December 3, 11 am | Grand Rapids

A wonderful holiday experience that lets guests meet their favorite characters, do a craft, have tea and learn a few ballet moves. A matinee performance of The Nutcracker next door concludes the event. $65 per person.


Steampunk: A Steamed Nutcracker

December 16, 2 pm & 7 pm | Benton Harbor

Catch an invigorating, unforgettable steampunk version of the holiday favorite at the Mendel Center, featuring a live orchestra. Tickets start at $25. 


Classic: The Nutcracker

December 8-9 | Kalamazoo

The Grand Rapids Ballet Company teams up with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra to bring the spectacular show to Kalamazoo. Tickets start at $19.


Children's Production: The Nutcracker

December 5-6 | Kalamazoo
Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet is brought to life by a local cast of 100 children and adults. Tickets start at $15.

Big City Showstopper: Joffrey Ballet's The Nutcracker

December 1-30 | Chicago
Venture inside Chicago's 1893 World's Fair with this famed holiday masterpiece, an imaginative production for all ages. Tickets start at $35.


School Setting: The Nutcracker

December 9-10 | Caledonia

A small stage version of the magical show, with  staple, with stunning costumes, breathtaking choreography and magnficient dancing brought to audiences by the Caledonia Dance & Music Center. Tickets start at $13. See the sets, get autographs and take pictures with the characters with a $3 backstage admission pass.
