What's On This Weekend: September 8-10

Celebrate the region's abundant fall harvest by stomping grapes, picking apples, dancing in a vineyard, catching a parade -- the options are nearly limitless. Read on for more ideas on how to best spend this glorious September weekend.

 

 

FRIDAY

 

  • Head to the Allegan County Fair for live music, delicious treats, thrilling rides and nonstop end-of-summer entertainment (through Sept 15)

  • Dash to the finish line of the pint-sized Little Feet, Big Feat race ahead of the Mt Baldhead Challenge in Douglas

  • Explore historic replicas of the Nina and Pinta tall ships docked at the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven (extended through Sunday)

 

SATURDAY 

 

  • Cheer on the mile-long fun run and meet community members and police officers during the Back the Blue event in St Joe

  • Mark the Lemon Creek grape harvest with a family-friendly lineup of dancing, hayrides, food and more in Berrien Springs

  • Stomp grapes and celebrate the season at the Paw Paw Wine & Harvest Festival (through Saturday)

  • Get your tractor fix at the Touch A Tractor event at Gull Meadow Farms near Kzoo

  • Pick apples, visit the pumpkin patch and wander through the corn maze at Overhiser Orchards (our fave!) in Pullman (through Sunday)

  • Meet everyone's favorite monkey, Curious George, pick apples and nibble some of the best cider donuts around at Robinette's in GR


SUNDAY 

 

  •  

  • Head to John Ball Zoo in GR for an entertaining, enlightening Grandparents' Day amongst the wild creatures

  • Nab a prime spot in downtown Paw Paw to score candy aplenty during the Paw Paw Harvest Parade

  • Bring Grandma and Grandpa to Stokes Homestead in Grand Junction for fun on the farm on Grandparents' Day
