What's On This Weekend: July 14-16

This is the weekend of Mother Nature. There's a museum under the stars, butterfly house concert, water festival, kayak rides, kite making, outdoor movies, nature walks, pond studies and animal encounters, just to name a few :)  

 

FRIDAY

 

  • Witness the whimsical worlds of Oz and Wonderland collide in Holland Civic Theatre children's production (through next weekend)

  • Ride the 1950s Diesel Replica at Eden Springs Park in Benton Harbor and discover a slice of fascinating history (continues Sunday)

  • Cozy up for an all-ages, under-the-stars showing of Despicable Me at Niles' Riverfront Park

 

 

SATURDAY 

 

  • Travel back to the Wild West and help the sheriff catch a notorious gang of outlaws during a rollicking  adventure aboard a vintage train in Coopersville

  • See what the animals of Sarett Nature Center in Benton Harbor are having for lunch, and maybe even help feed them

  • Explore hands-on water activities for all ages at the Macatawa Water Festival on Holland’s Windmill Island

  • Paddle from the dam to the pipeline takeout in Benton Harbor, stopping at a scenic spot along the way for lunch

  • Soar your very own handmade paper kites at the Krasl Art Center in St Joe

  • Grab a blanket and cozy up to watch Moana at the Whirlpool Centennial Park in St Joe

  • Learn about summer constellations and star gaze through high-powered telescopes at Holland State Park's special Museum Under the Stars event

  • Ride the 1950s Diesel Replica at Eden Springs Park in Benton Harbor and discover a fascinating slice of history

  • Sample all the ribs you can handle during the annual Ribfest in Three Oaks

 

 

SUNDAY 

 

  • Watch the butterflies flitter about and enjoy beautiful harp tunes at Sarett Nature Center's butterfly house concert

  • Embark on a family-friendly walk through the woods at Kalamazoo Nature Center and pick up some new writing techniques

  • Take the whole family to Fernwood Botanical Gardens in Niles for a hands-on pond study
