12 Don't-Miss Things To Do In July

This month's roundup of events is so packed with summery goodness that we've gone ahead and hand-picked a dozen of our favorites to mark on your calendar.

1. Hot Air Balloon Festival | Battle Creek | June 30-July 4

The center's latest beach-themed exhibit opens with a family-friendly celebration of games, dancing, refreshments and sunshine-drenched merriment.

5. Zeelmania | Zeeland | Mondays (starting July 10)

One of the area's best block parties, with nonstop entertainment, bounce houses, tasty fare, face painting and activities with a fresh twist each week. Go early to enjoy the splash pad.

6. A League of Their Own Night | South Bend | July 13

The South Bend Cubs honor the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League with a special pregame ceremony, postgame fireworks and plenty of action in between.

7. The Great Train Robbery | Coopersville | July 15 & 22

Lucky travelers head to the Wild West to help the sheriff catch a notorious gang of outlaws during an adventurous, unforgettable ride on a vintage train.

8. Summer Movies in the Park | St Joseph | Saturdays

This movie under the stars series features such popular flicks as Moana, Wall-E, Harry Potter and Some Like It Hot, Hit up the carousel (and grab your popcorn and cotton candy) beforehand and watch the sunset for a truly magical night.

9. Museum Under the Stars | Holland | July 15

A family-friendly stargazing event on the beach at Holland State Park. Participants will learn about summer constellations, discover the night sky through high-powered telescopes, and experience the beauty of the shoreline at night.

10. Dorothy In Wonderland | Holland | July 13-15 & 20-22 The fantastical worlds of Oz and Wonderland collide in this delightful romp, part of the Holland Civic Theatre's children's summer production series.

11. Van Buren County Youth Fair | Hartford | July 17-22

This small town county fair is big on charm, with barnyard animals, thrilling rides, and a full lineup of entertainment and lip-smacking fair food to entice all ages.

12. Venetian Festival | Saugatuck | July 28

The lakeside revelry includes kids' games, an '80s rock 'n' roll concert, lighted boat parade and fireworks.
