What's On This Weekend: Dec 2-4

Pretty much everything you could ever possibly want to do for the holidays is happening this weekend. Grab a cup of hot cocoa and read on before mapping out your plans.

FRIDAY

  • Help decorate the Holland Museum for the holidays, make paper snowflakes and design your own ornament to hang in the museum lobby

  • Nab your seat for the live production of A Charlie Brown Christmas in Holland (through Dec 10)

  • Watch as more than 100 lighted floats, costumed characters and marching bands march down the streets of Dowagiac during the Candlelight Christmas Parade and enjoy festivities afterward

  • Catch the beginning of the spectacular light display along St Joseph's Lake Bluff Park

  • Witness the storefronts of downtown St Joe coming to life with a mesmerizing array of live mannequin displays

  • Don't miss a truly unique Dutch tradition in Holland when Sinterklaas arrives on his great white horse before heading to nearby Holland Museum for cookies and hot cocoa

SATURDAY

  • Watch as a herd of adorably costumed pets escort Santa through downtown St. Joe during the Reindog Holiday Parade

  • Join Santa for a scrumptious breakfast and make a craft with Santa's helpers at the Fernwood Botanical Garden in Niles

  • Reserve your spot at the Scott Club in South Haven for a special breakfast with Santa Claus, catered by Big Boy Restaurant

  • Check out the model train decked out in a spectacular yuletide fashion on display at the Fennville District Library (through Dec 5)

  • Spend the day in Fennville, where the lineup includes visits with Santa, crafts, a holiday lights parade, tree lighting and carriage ride

  • See some of Kalamazoo Nature Center's animals up close and out of their normal enclosures during the kid-focused Creature Feature

  • Meet beloved PBS character Arthur and enjoy games, activities and food galore at Craigs Cruisers in Wyoming (for PBS Kids Clubhouse members only)

  • Learn about animals using a children's book, meet a related animal up close and enjoy holiday music at the Outdoor Discovery Center in Holland

  • Watch the colorful Peppermint Parade in Three Oaks before heading to the Acorn Theater for pizza, hot chocolate, live entertainment and a cameo by Santa himself

  • Listen to stories and create an advent calendar to take home at the Curious Kids' Museum's Super Saturday in St Joe

  • Make a spectacular, one-of-a-kind ornament at the Local Color Gallery in Union Pier (recommended for ages 6-12)

  • Meet Santa, make ornaments and decorate cookies during Round Barn Winery's annual Toys for Tots holiday party in Baroda

  • Dress up as your favorite Whoville character and join Saugatuck's festive holiday parade

  • Listen to pioneer Christmas stories and enjoy donuts cooked on an open fired at the DeGraaf Nature Center's log cabin in Holland

  • Head to Stevensville for an evening of holiday fun, including visits with Santa, face painting, cookie decorating, crafts, a photo booth, carols, live music, snacks and sleigh rides

  • Watch as the historic Amtrak train depot in Niles is lit for the holidays

  • Enjoy a beautiful lighted parade through downtown Bangor

  • Spend the evening at the historic Log Cabin Museum in Cassopolis, with a tree lighting ceremony, refreshments, music and tours

  • Ring in the holidays with lighted floats, music, costumes and holiday cheer in Grand Haven

  • Listen as talented young musicians perform selections from The Nutcracker Suite and more at South Haven High School

  • Sing carols and watch local talent showcase their skills at the Three Rivers Community Players Holiday Variety Show

SUNDAY

  • Create a spectacular gingerbread abode to enter in the contest at Douglas City Hall

  • Savor a magical afternoon of kid-friendly tea service, holiday treats, snacks, live music and a visit with Santa in New Buffalo

  • Head to Eden Springs Park in Benton Harbor for a $3 train ride and enchanting illuminations

  • Cozy up at Watervliet's Arclight Brewery for a charming night of lighted parade floats, a chili cook-off, live reindeer and more
