What's On This Weekend: Oct 28-30

Don the costumes, bust out the candy and jazz yourself up for Halloween celebrations big and small. And if it all gets to be too much, head outdoors and away from the crowds for some sugar-free time with Mother Nature

 


FRIDAY 

  • Head to the spectacularly decorated Silver Beach Carousel for a hauntingly fun nighttime ride -- free for those wearing costumes -- and kids' activities (all weekend)

  • Walk the lighted trails at Sarett Nature Center in Benton Harbor and discover wild creatures and fun activities along the way, then head indoors for snacks and crafts

  • Get creative with glow sticks at the Glow in the Dark family-friendly party at Beery Park in Douglas

  • Stop by Barden's Farm Market in South Haven for pumpkin painting, fun photos, cider, a caramel apple bar and more

 

SATURDAY

 

  • Up your candy stash with trick or treating in the exhibits at the Holland Museum, and enjoy flashlight tours of the Dutch Galleries, games and crafts

  • Hunt for pumpkins at Virtue Cider in Fennville, then stay for face painting, food, music, a costume contest and photo booth

  • Take the kids to the YMCA for crafts, games and more at the family-focused Niles Fall Festival

  • Keep an eye out for enchanted critters during the Kalamazoo Nature Center's non-spooky Creatures of the Night: Tricks & Tales 

  • ​Celebrate Halloween in Coloma with festivities in the park prior to trick or treating in town

  • Watch the parade of colorful characters at the annual Saugatuck Halloween Parade

  • Head to downtown Holland for some sweet trick or treat action at participating businesses

  • Don your costume and collect candy during downtown Niles' hour-long trick or treating

  • Grab a bag of candy and go to VerHages' Trunk or Treat extravaganza in Kalamazoo 

  • Spend the evening trick or treating in the gardens, and enjoy creepy crafts, creatures and stories, at Fernwood Botanical Garden in Niles

  • Shift holiday gears and catch the opening of the Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown! exhibit at the Grand Rapids Public Museum

 

 

SUNDAY

 

  • Catch the spectacular Halloween parade and then do some trick or treating in charming New Buffalo

  • Get to North Pier Brewing in Benton Harbor for Howl-O-Ween, a therapy dog fundraiser featuring trick or treating, a photo booth, food and beer

  • Listen to ghost stories and have your face painting at the Holland Area Arts Council's All Hallows Eve Celebration 

  • Close out the Halloween season with the messy, mesmerizing Giant Pumpkin Drop at Gull Meadow Farms in Kalamazoo
