What's On This Weekend: August 5-7

If ever there was a weekend lineup of local events to cause severe FOMO (fear of missing out), this is it. So many stellar summer things going on, so little ability to multiply and experience them all. 

 

Friday
- Head to the Cass County Fair for fun rides, animals and delicious foods-on-sticks (through Saturday)

- Get your tickets to the ANDkids World Film Festival at Notre Dame (through Saturday)

- Celebrate two August favorites at the Coloma Glad-Peach Festival with carnival rides, parades, a baking contest and fireworks (through Sunday)

- Slip and slide the afternoon away at Buchanan's watery Summer Thrill on the Hill (through Saturday)

- Catch a free, family-friendly performance of Pericles at St. Joe's Krasl Art Center

- Give the littles a taste of old-fashioned life at the Meijer Gardens' Fridays at the Farm

- Drop the kids off for some creative play at the South Haven Center for the Arts' ArtQuest while you enjoy a leisurely lunch

 - Enjoy live music accompanied by the evening breeze in Holland's Kollen Park

- Head to the YMCA in St. Joe for a "Mission Impossible"-themed Family Fun Night, replete with an obstacle course and viewing of "Tangled" in the pool

- Grab a cozy blanket, pack a picnic and watch "Grease" under the stars in Niles


Saturday

- Make your way through a mud-filled 5K obstacle course run and kids' 1K in South Haven

- Don your running shoes and enjoy the rainbow-hued Color Run 5K in Grand Rapids

- Cool off with Palazzolo gelato in Glenn Square during a small-town social

- Score discounted tickets and meet PBS Kids' Bob the Builder and Nature Cat during the WGVU Kids Day at the John Ball Zoo
- Watch as local artists create whimsical works of art during the Chalk the Block (through Sunday)

- Let the kids learn about the Statue of Liberty and make a craft to take home at the Curious Kids' Museum's Super Saturday in St. Joe

- Watch "Zootopia" on the open-air big screen in St. Joseph at dusk near the lake

 

Sunday

- Visit Stokes Homestead in Grand Junction for the Blueberry Bash, with face painting, a donut hole toss, pie-eating contests, live music and blueberry cuisine

- Take a leisurely horse-drawn trolley ride along the quaint streets of downtown St. Joseph
