What's On This Weekend *Easter Edition!*: Mar 30-Apr 1

While most parents probably enjoy fairly uneventful Easters filled with nibbles of chocolates and sweets, family gatherings and backyard egg hunts, we tend to do things like have babies or rush to the emergency room because someone isn't breathing. In addition to the sugar buzz, Easter comes with a whopping range of emotions for yours truly. But, speaking of whoppers, I bought a giant bag of those chocolate eggs because they're so pretty and I kidded myself into thinking I wouldn't eat them all. #sorrynotsorry Do you have a favorite Easter candy that you stash away from the kids? Rarely does a Friday outshine the rest of the weekend, but that is exactly the case this weekend. Hopefully you've already sussed out your Friday night plans, but if not you will want to keep reading. Monster trucks, Wonderland ballet, pajama parties, super heroes and kids' film festivals are all on tap this chilly Friday. Spend the rest of the weekend learning how to make maple syrup, meeting Rapunzel or enjoy a date night while the kids play at the Y. Read on for the details. Follow The Crumbs: 13 Area Bakeries To Tempt Those Taste Buds

Mlive recently posed a question: What's the best bakery in Michigan? Theoretically, I've never met a donut I didn't like. But in all honesty, while there are many mediocre and completely edible options out there, when you come across a true standout it is a pretty divine moment. The first time I had a still-warm, melt-in-your-mouth glazed donut from a little bakery near our favorite vacation spot in Shelby I'm pretty sure cartoon hearts appeared over my head. We had a moment. Those yeasty circles of culinary perfection are worthy of a detour anytime we're headed north on 31 early enough in the morning to score a box. Whether it's donuts, cookies, cupcakes or croissants that beckon you from t

Oh Hey, Crocuses. Celebrate Spring With An Outdoor Nature Hunt.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not even a little bit sad about winter coming to an end, but I don't understand how yet another unreasonably long Michigan winter passed by without getting to check skiing and tobogganing off our bucket list. But here we are in early March, cooing over newborn lambs on Instagram and watching the hardiest souls defy their thermometers and cruise down the road in their convertible cars like it's July. Spring, you have been missed. On the off chance that any encouragement to get outdoors and soak up the sunshine is needed, which of course it's not, we put together a fun little spring scavenger hunt to entice the little ones to explore. Get the printable right here. Then

What's On This Weekend: Mar 2-4

One of our most favorite signs of spring has arrived: the butterflies at the Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids. Head to the warm, lush observatory -- wear layers; it gets warm -- and watch as butterflies in the loveliest jewel tones flitter over your heads and all around you. It's a pretty spectacular sight to behold. Once the warmth gets to you, head outdoors to explore the children's garden. If butterflies aren't for you (is that a thing?), then make plans to hang with the Star Wars crew, princesses galore or head to the farm for sheep shearing or maple sugar making. Enjoy this beautiful March weekend, friends! FRIDAY See the butterflies flitter and fly at the Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids,
