What's On This Weekend: August 25-27

On a whim last summer, we left our neighbor's 90th birthday party and headed to Kalamazoo for the Kalamazoo Nature Center's annual Mudfest. It is now one of my (many) favorite summer festivities. There is a giant mud bog to splash around in, a long slip 'n' slide (bring bug spray) and lots of other activities to entertain the whole family for hours. I cannot recommend it enough. Whether you hit up the KNC or opt for something less dirty, enjoy this gorgeous end-of-August weekend, friends! FRIDAY Mark the end of summer with a giant water slide, games, a cookout, and tons of chalk-y fun at the Y in St Joe SATURDAY Sleep under the stars, go on a night hike and wake up to a naturalist program, g

Are You Ready For Monday's Solar Eclipse? First Check Out These Awesome Resources.

We are less than 24 hours away from the solar spectacle in sky, and if you are a procrastinator like me, there is some good news. The eclipse glasses may be long gone, but there are a few fun, safe ways to view the eclipse using objects that you probably already have around the house. Here's all the information you'll need: Turn first to NASA for the vast majority of your solar eclipse needs, including live streaming, science, safety and more. Find out the exact time the eclipse will occur in your town right here. You can also watch a live broadcast of the

We can wallow over the fact that more than half of August has already slipped out of our grasp, or we can vow to get out this weekend and explore to the content of our kiddos' hearts. Stomp some grapes, enter the littles in a pie-eating contest, check out amazing contraptions and gizmos, ride the Tilt-a-Whirl, hunt spiders and settle in for a movie in the park at dusk. The entire Southwest Michigan area is your weekend playground. What are you gonna do? What's On This Weekend: August 11-13

If this is the year you are going to introduce your kids to The Goonies, there is absolutely no better venue for it than under the stars at Kollen Park in Holland. There's something magical about watching it in a crowd, in the height of the summer, with a cool breeze that makes you want to cozy up under the blanket -- that combination right there is nostalgic perfection. Of course, if you are among the few who don't love Chunk and the crew (how could you not?!), there are plenty of other summer festivities to distract you from the fact that the summer is winding down. Have a wonderful weekend! FRIDAY Get your fill of carnival rides, barn animals and tasty fair food at the Kalamazoo County Yo
