Recipe: Flaky, Golden Strawberry Handpies

The window for devouring plump, sun-ripened strawberries fresh from field is all too fleeting here in Southwest Michigan. While there is no shortage for ways to use up the delectable berries (jams, shortcakes, muffins, salads, by the handful, to name a few), one of our new favorites is strawberry hand pies. They're portable, non-messy and highly delicious, plus they come together quickly and require very little time in the kitchen. STRAWBERRY HAND PIES Makes: 16-20 hand pies INGREDIENTS For the Pie Crust: 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 tbsp granulated sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup (2 sticks) cold butter ½ cup ice cold water For the Pie Filling: 2 cups hulled and sliced strawberries 2 tablespoons
