What's On This Weekend: Oct 12-14

Ready or not, the first crop of the Halloween happenings has arrived [insert screamy emoji]! Grab those cozy flannels and head out for some fall fun this weekend, from pumpkin carvings to hay rides to warm cider to coffin races -- there is something for the whole family to savor. Or you can escape the crowds and take a hike to check out the fall colors.

FRIDAY

 

  • Celebrate fall with an apple tasting, petting zoo, face painting, hay wagon rides, games, a maze and more at Wedel's (through Saturday)

  • Catch pro pumpkin carvers carving jack-o-lanterns along Holland's 8th Street and see them glow after dark during Fall Fest (through Saturday)

  • Head to Fennville for live music, carnival rides, delicious food, a parade, race and more (through Sunday)

  • Boogie down with bubbles, glow sticks and fun family music at the Forever Curious Children's Museum's Dance Party in Fennville

  • Pick up valuable info from the Southwestern Michigan Migrant Resource Council while kids watch the movie Coco in Lawrence

 

SATURDAY

 

  • Embark on a Halloween train ride through Eden Springs Park in Benton Harbor (through Sunday)

  • Take a hayride to DeGrandchamp's Farms cranberry bogs in South Haven to watch workers harvest a sea of red, ripe cranberries, plus plenty of activities for the kids

  • Come as your favorite Star Wars character and enjoy games, prizes, a hay wagon ride, animals, costume contest, pumpkin decorating contest, fortune tellers and more at Buchanan District Library

  • Tuck into a tasty breakfast among the dinosaurs at the Grand Rapids Public Museum 

  • Commemorate Bangor's agricultural history with live music, performances, car and motorcycle shows, a pancake breakfast during the Apple Festival

  • Go on a scavenger hunt in the village of Mattawan,  see tons of pumpkins and partake in kids' activities

  • Get to downtown Saugatuck for coffin races, activities for kids, live music and more during the annual Ghoulfest

  • Don a costume and partake in the Monster Mash in Portage with rick or treating, inflatables, a spooky hayride, magic show, pumpkin carving demo, food and more

 

SUNDAY

  • Listen to live music, eat and drink local, and check out the  family-friendly activities the Round Barn Winery, Distillery & Brewery's Family Fun Day in beautiful Baroda
