What's On This Weekend: Oct 21-23

It's like we blink and Friday is here again. Must be magic. Give in to the mesmerizing ways of late October with a veritable smorgasbord of festive activities in the area. 

 

 

FRIDAY 

 

 

  • Encounter awesome animals, eat s'mores and partake in trick or treating at the Outdoor Discovery Center's Treats & Trails in Holland (through Saturday)

  • Bundle up and watch a trio of Halloween flicks (starting with It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown) outdoors near the South Haven marina

  • Catch an enchanting performance of Peter Pan by the Grand Rapids Ballet School Junior Company (through Sunday) 

  • Dare to wander through the Michigan Maritime Museum's Haunted Asylum with the older kids (ages 14+; through Saturday)

 

SATURDAY

 

  • Dress in costume for the South Haven Memorial Library's annual Halloween party, with games, treats, crafts and more

  • Walk through picturesque downtown Douglas and take in the pumpkin carving spectacle

  • Check out the activities, edibles and contests galore, including a zombie stroll downtown, at the family-friendly South Haven Harvest Festival

  • Climb aboard the Halloween train for a thrilling ride through the Eden Springs Park in Benton Harbor

  • Take your four-legged friends to Fernwood Botanical Garden in Niles for a special pet-friendly Halloween celebration

  • Drop the kids off for their very own Halloween party at the HealthTRAC in Three Rivers

  • Score plenty of treats at the YMCA's Trunk-a-Palooza in St Joseph, where inflatables, face painting and activities will also be on hand

  • Celebrate all things orange with hands-on fun at the Curious Kids' Museum in St Joseph

  • Try your hand at the exhilarating Zom-Beach Obstacle Course fundraiser in South Haven

  • Take a hay ride, enjoy a magic show and do some trick or treating at the outdoor Monster Mash in Portage

  • Cheer on the dance teams at the Dancing with Docs fundraiser for hospice services in Allegan

  

SUNDAY

 

  • Collect candy while cruising along the beautiful Kal-Haven Trail during the Boo on Your Bike trick-or-treating extravaganza

  • Soak up the brilliant fall colors on a scenic, kid-friendly walk through the woods at the Kalamazoo Nature Center
