What's On This Weekend: Oct 14-16

The first of the Halloween activities kicks off this weekend, the leaves are starting to turn color -- basically Mother Nature and the local caramel apple purveyors have teamed up to tell us that now is the time to bundle up and get outdoors for some fall fun. Grab a warm cider and map out your plan for the next few days. 

 

 

FRIDAY 

 

  • Catch live jack-o-lantern carvings  in downtown Holland when the Fall Fest kicks off at 3 pm (through Saturday)

  • Let the kids perfect their pretzel-like poses during a session of Toddler Yoga at the Forever Curious Kids' Museum in Fennville

  • Cheer on lumberjacks as they compete in log splitting, ax throwing and more at Gull Meadows in Kalamazoo

  • Get your tickets for a live musical version of Disney's classic Mary Poppins at the Lerner in Elkhart (through Sunday)  

 

SATURDAY

  

  • ​Get into the Halloween fall spirit with a slew of kids' activities, including trick-or-treating, live music, caramel apples and more at Stokes Homestead in Grand Junction (through Sunday)

  • Witness the spectacular cranberry harvest at DeGrandchamp in South Haven

  • Learn about Halloween celebrations around the world at the Forever Curious Kids' Museum in Fennville

  • Enjoy a full day of family-friendly activities and art at the Cassopolis Fall Festival 

  • Stroll through the streets of downtown Mattawan in search of great deals and special treats on the Pumpkin Trail

  • Pick out pumpkins, take a wagon ride and check out the activities slated for kids at Overhiser Orchard 

  • Take your littles to explore the great outdoors during Fernwood Botanical Garden's Nature Saplings class in Niles

  • Watch Beatrix Potter's beloved Peter Rabbit Tales come to life at the Mendel Center (through Sunday)

  • Let the kids try leaf rubbing and other fall explorations at the Curious Kids' Museum in St. Joseph

  • Wander over to the Wurstfest in Three Oaks for good food, local beers, live entertainment and children's crafts

  • Grab your seats for a thrilling Halloween train ride through Benton Harbor's Eden Springs Park (weekends only through Oct 23)


SUNDAY

 

  • Relax with a session of yoga for the whole family at Fernwood Botanical Garden 

  • Get to the Watervliet airport for the annual Chili Hop, 5K run and fly-in
